The AI-CENTIVE Final Event brought together the full project team and interested stakeholders for an afternoon focused on what we’ve achieved over the past two years — and what these results mean for the future of sustainable mobility in Austria.

A Shared Starting Point

Emilia Schützenhofer opened the session by framing AI-CENTIVE as more than a research project. Over two years, it became a joint effort to understand how incentives, data, behavioural insights and AI can support people in making more sustainable mobility choices.

What We Built Together

Lyndon Nixon (MODUL Technology) provided an overview of the project’s development: from initial concepts to concrete tools and prototypes. He highlighted how the different components — an incentive app, enhanced weather intelligence, mobility behaviour insights and a central dashboard — came together to form a connected ecosystem.

Insights from the Partner Contributions

In a series of compact presentations, partners shared their contributions and key learnings:

  • Dave Kock (ummadum) demonstrated how digital incentives can influence everyday travel choices and motivate people to adopt more sustainable mobility habits.
  • Toni Jurlina (Geosphere Austria) added the perspective of AI-enhanced weather forecasting, showing how more accurate predictions contribute to safety and planning reliability, especially for active travel and public transport.
  • Arno Scharl (webLyzard) expanded the view by presenting how mobility, environmental and communication data can be brought together to uncover behavioural patterns and public sentiment, giving decision-makers clearer insights.
  • Astrid Gühnenmann (BOKU) then connected these elements through behavioural research, explaining how mobility decisions evolve when users receive the right mix of information, transparency and motivational cues.

Together, these contributions underscored one central point: sustainable mobility cannot be advanced by technology alone — it requires behavioural understanding, contextual data and strong collaboration across sectors.

Panel Discussion: Looking Forward

All project partners gathered for a final panel dedicated to the big question:
How do we take what we learned and apply it to Austria’s mobility landscape going forward?

The discussion covered:

  • how incentive-based approaches can scale beyond pilot projects

  • the role of transparent and trustworthy data handling

  • the value of cross-sector cooperation

  • and opportunities to build on the tools and insights created during AI-CENTIVE

The shared conclusion: the results of the project offer a strong foundation, but the real potential lies in continuing to connect research, industry and public actors.

Community Moment & Closing Thoughts

Throughout the event, the atmosphere was familiar, open and genuinely collaborative. The gathering concluded with an informal networking session, where participants enjoyed a drink together and continued conversations in a relaxed setting, reinforcing the sense of community that has grown around the project.

The event highlighted not only what AI-CENTIVE produced, but also how far collaboration can take a mobility project in just two years. The tools, insights and partnerships developed during this period now open the door for future initiatives focused on cleaner, smarter and more user-friendly mobility.

A big thank-you goes to all speakers and partners who contributed to this journey. The work does not end here — but the path ahead is clearer than ever.
