2024 was a transformative year for AI-CENTIVE. From impactful webinars to international conference presentations and CO₂ savings, our team made significant strides toward advancing sustainable mobility solutions. Here’s a look back at our key highlights and achievements throughout the year.
Strategic Partner Workshop in Vienna
In February, AI-CENTIVE partners came together at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) Vienna for an intensive workshop focused on developing the project’s logic map. The event underscored the importance of real-time collaboration, demonstrating how complex topics become more approachable when tackled in a group setting.
First AI-CENTIVE Webinar
On April 4th, AI-CENTIVE hosted its first webinar featuring insights from Dr. Lyndon Nixon (MODUL Technology) and Prof. Arno Scharl (webLyzard technology). The session introduced attendees to the AI-CENTIVE dashboard, highlighting its ability to visualize data and analyze media discourse on sustainable mobility.
The discussion explored how the dashboard reveals key narratives, public perceptions, and opinion leaders in the mobility sector rather than focusing purely on classical sentiment analysis. The event emphasized the versatile application of AI as a tool for the future.
Insights at the 1st BMK Mobility Conference
AI-CENTIVE was proud to contribute to the 1st Mobility Conference organized by the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation & Technology (BMK). With a focus on “Artificial Intelligence: Turbo for the Mobility Transition?”, the conference highlighted AI’s critical role in shaping sustainable mobility solutions.
Prof. Arno Scharl’s presentation emphasized the importance of robust and unbiased data to anchor AI applications in practical and impactful solutions for the mobility sector.
Over 100,000 kg of CO₂ Saved
One of AI-CENTIVE’s proudest milestones this year was helping our community save over 100,000 kg of CO₂ through the ummadum app. By incentivizing sustainable transportation options, AI-CENTIVE demonstrated the power of AI-driven solutions in promoting environmentally friendly mobility behavior.
In just six months, the initiative grew to over 1,000 active members, showcasing the success of our engagement strategies and the positive impact of digital tools in driving real-world change.
Presentation at ICITT 2024
At the 8th International Conference on Intelligent Traffic and Transportation (ICITT) on September 18th, Adrian M.P. Brasoveanu (Modul University Vienna) presented the paper “Learning Sustainable Mobility Behaviour in Post-Pandemic Vienna”.
This research, co-authored by Adrian M.P. Brasoveanu, Dr. Lyndon Nixon, and Prof. Arno Scharl, revealed how machine learning techniques outperform deep learning in predicting mobility behaviors, using real data from a mobility app.
VCÖ Mobility Award 2024: A Step Forward
AI-CENTIVE was honored to participate in the VCÖ Mobility Award 2024, Austria’s largest competition for sustainable mobility projects. While we did not win, the nomination reinforced our project’s innovative approach in harnessing AI to foster sustainable mobility behavior.
Looking Ahead to 2025
Building on the momentum of 2024, AI-CENTIVE will continue to focus on:
- Driving impactful collaborations with stakeholders.
- Hosting interactive workshops and webinars to share knowledge.
- Showcasing the project’s achievements at key conferences and events.
We look forward to concluding the project with even greater milestones and laying the foundation for long-term sustainable mobility solutions.
